About

MDI.CONNECT combines the speed of push-to-talk (Push to Talk) communications with unlimited Internet coverage. The platform is specifically designed to support fast, reliable and high-quality voice communications using 4G, LTE, 3G and Wi-Fi networks. Users can connect from anywhere and with a wide range of features, including: instant group calling, secure contact lists, call alerts; do more in less time. The MDI.CONNECT network management tool allows administrators to wirelessly sync contacts and groups on user devices in real time.

How does IP radio work?

For the user, communication over IP walkie-talkies looks like communication using conventional walkie-talkies. Pressing the PTT button opens a communication channel in the one-talking-all-listening mode.

Physically, our IP walkie-talkie is the filling of a mobile phone (GSM900/1800, UMTS 2100 and LTE standard) enclosed in a walkie-talkie case. The software installed in the IP radio emulates simplex / half duplex / full duplex radio communication. Switching and organization of the communication channel is carried out through our server installed in the TIER 3 category data center (Moscow).

In addition to simplex communication, our system provides: group, individual and priority calls.

Is there a range limit?

IP walkie-talkies do not have a range limit. You can be in different parts of the world, and will be in touch as in neighboring streets.

Why do we need IP walkie-talkies if there are a large number of free applications?

Our IP walkie-talkies have a specially limited (compared to smartphones) functionality. No screen or plain screen, no ability to make calls to the PSTN, no unnecessary programs and applications loaded. THIS guarantees that the user will use our IP radio only for its intended purpose - for radio communication. What's more, the walkie-talkie is dust and moisture resistant and has a professional look. The physical antenna gives better reception/transmission compared to smartphones.

What is needed for IP radio to work?

The presence of a cellular data network (2.5G / 3G / 4G) and / or a WIFI network is a prerequisite for the radio to work.

The IP radio has a SIM card slot. Walkie-talkies work with SIM cards of any operators, provided that data transfer is allowed on the tariff plan. Our IP walkie-talkies do not use the GSM voice channel, only the data network.

Is there a frequency fee?

Our system uses a mobile operator's data network or a WIFI network. There is no frequency fee!

How much will I have to pay for communication in the system?

The cost of servicing a subscriber in our system consists of two components : a subscription fee for servicing and payment for the selected tariff plan of the telecom operator. We will give you detailed advice on choosing a tariff plan.

What traffic does the IP radio consume:

In standby mode, the radio consumes about 125MB / month, in operating mode from 500 to 1000 MB.

What is included in the cost of service in our system:

  • IP radio communication 24/7
  • customer service for subscribers (configuring into groups, assigning priorities, etc.)
  • dispatcher access to real-time movement tracks and voice messages, as well as to the archive of geolocation and voice messages
  • personal account on the server for administration and dispatching

Can I be listened to while working in the system?

Live listening is not possible. The radio does not transmit in the voice channel, communication is carried out via ip. Our server does not use data encryption. Encryption when working through the networks of a cellular carrier is carried out by the carrier itself (see GSM / UMTS / LTE communication standards).

What is the reliability of the server?

The systems server is located in the TIER 3 data center (NORD 4 data center). Server monitoring by data center specialists is carried out with a frequency of 1 time in 5 seconds. In case of unforeseen breakdowns, restoration of work takes 90 - 120 seconds. We guarantee server infrastructure reliability of at least 99.982% year on year.

What is the reliability of the mobile operator?

The base station of the telecom operator provides at least 40 minutes of its operation in the event of a power failure. A global cell outage is an extremely rare occurrence.

Why are we better than other types of radio communications?

  • our system does not have a range limitation, like conventional radio communications, including DMR, TETRA and others.
  • in our system there is no fee for frequencies, as in the same DMR and TETRA.
  • for a small monthly fee, we provide the subscriber with DMR and TETRA level functionality (voice communication, messaging, geolocation and track recording, recording and archiving of conversations, operational administration of subscribers and groups, etc.).
  • in the case of a mixed fleet of radio stations (analogue, DMR, TETRA and IP), we offer subscribers solutions for combining different radio standards into one working group.
